PODCAST: I can’t manifest what I want Georgina Hudson

This blog has been inspired by what a subscriber shared with us. She wrote:

“How do I let go of the expectation of finding a job when, without being too picky, I don’t get it. I sometimes wonder if I'm doing enough."

First, I honor this reader for sharing her concern with us. Next, we’re going to break down the topics encapsulated in her message into manageable chunks to get to a solution.

The first thing I’d like to clarify is that letting go is something we do when we’re in peace because we’ve given everything we’ve got to achieve our goal. We don’t release before doing, we release afterwards. In that sense, questioning whether one is doing enough is valid. The idea comes down to knowing where I am going, to doing everything in my power consistently, and then letting go of how it has to result, when and where. The other super important element to manifest anything is to take into account the following three elements - work on oneself, clarity about what one wants and the actions to be carried out.

1. Working on oneself

Working on oneself is essential because if you don't believe in yourself you won't get far. If you obsess because you don’t feel there’s enough for everyone, you’ll be exhausted along the way. If you’re afraid of what others might say or of making mistakes, you’re going to whip yourself and you aren’t even going to dare to start. It’s important to understand what mental, physical and emotional state you are in before anything else. Once you get in touch with every aspect of the state you are in, take yourself to the most optimal place.

When looking at your beliefs (mental state), it’s essential to question whether they are driving you or limiting you. If they prevent you from moving forward, ask yourself how true they are and dare to challenge them. It’s also necessary to remember that your body is part of the whole that makes you up, rest well, do physical exercise and carry out activities that recharge your batteries and give you the energy you’ll need for your project. As for your emotions, I love the way that the great Tara Brach puts it: “they are like the waves in the sea but underneath there is a calm ocean”. Fear, insecurity, frustration can appear along the way, the important thing is to learn to get in touch with the peace within us to soothe ourselves. Mind you, the idea is not to reject what happens to you, it’s to understand why it arises and to tend to that. Remember what prompted in the first place, why you’re doing it and then, move forward with enthusiasm.

I'm going to give a couple of examples of what I mean - one at work-related level and another at personal one. Let's start with the first one:

You want to materialize a job, the first thing you have to get in shape is yourself. If you want to launch your business but think you don't have what it takes, your ideas will paralyze you. Is it really so, what proof do you have? Are you falling prey to perfectionism or what others might say? It’s most likely that you are. Claim your worth, and if you really lack something, go for it, ask for help. You don't sleep well at night and you have no energy, develop healthy habits that boost you up and don't turn you off. Are you afraid? It is normal, the unknown is scary but you have to dare to be a little uncomfortable to move forward.

Another example on a personal thing:

Do you want to find your partner but have been single for a long time? Do you think the problem is you aren’t nice / handsome / popular? Then, do your best to fall in love with yourself first, how can someone else love you if you reject yourself? Do you cover your emptiness with some addiction? Start by taking care of your body and respecting it, then you’ll be prepared to join another. Are you ashamed of going out or being in apps for single people? Get in touch with your inner wisdom and see what your shyness is trying to tell you, give yourself a lot of love and fill up your cup, then you’ll be able to break free and show up in the world.

I'm already listening to the "easier said than done". The answer is that it doesn't have to be easy, your initial vision has to inspire you. If all of the above (and what’s to come) is really difficult for you, seek help from a therapist or a coach to help you get unstuck.

2. Clarity about what one wants

The other fundamental point is that you ask yourself whether you are clear about what you want or whether you only have a vague idea. It may happen that you are super creative and have many ideas but nothing concrete. Maybe you like many things and you don't mind what you manifest. The truth is that it doesn't work like that. If you aren’t clear about where you are going, that is, your vision, how are you going to design your actions? Define your objective with maximum precision and you’ll pave the way for taking the necessary steps.

3. Action design

Once you are in your optimal state and you accurately know what you want, sit down and outline everything you can do to achieve it. I recommend the following exercise. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into three columns. In the first one write “Current place”, in the second write “Tasks to carry out” and in the third write “Desired place”. Sit in a quiet space and write down everything related to your circumstances today under the first column. When you finish, go to the third column and jot down what you want to achieve, how you see yourself doing it, what you’ll feel, who will surround you, etc. Finally, go to the column in the middle and record everything you can do to get from your current place to your desired place.

Do, give thanks and let go

The last step is to put your head and your heart into what you undertake to be in an optimal personal and physical state and to move towards your goal. Give it all with joy, don’t get obsessed with the time it has to happen or with how it has to turn out, let it go, but do give your best. So when you are overflowing with happiness for doing what you want to do, when you feel extremely satisfied with everything you are doing, have the grace to wait calmly, knowing from the depths of your being that you deserve it because you have done or you're doing everything in your power. Remember to be self-compassionate in the process and treat yourself as the person who loves you the most would do it. Finally, thank your inner wisdom or the forces greater than yourself for the guidance they’re offering you along the way.

A big hug ❤
